Iran will lead enemies to repentance, says country’s ambassador to Brazil

Iran’s ambassador to Brazil, Abdollah Nekounam Ghadiri, criticized this Saturday, the 28th, the joint attack by the United States and Israel and stated that the Islamic country “will lead all enemies to repentance”.

Ghadiri also posted a statement from the Iranian Foreign Ministry about the attack on the same social network.

“The United States and the Zionist regime, this morning, on the eve of Nowruz and on the tenth day of the holy month of Ramadan, flagrantly violating the territorial integrity and national sovereignty of Iran, attacked a series of defense targets and infrastructures, as well as civilian installations, in several cities in our country”, says the text.

Next, the statement states that Iran and the United States were “in the course of a diplomatic process.”

“Although we are aware of the intentions of the United States and the Zionist regime to perpetrate new military aggression, we once again participate in negotiations in order to exhaust the arguments before the international community and all countries in the world, to demonstrate the legitimacy of the Iranian people and highlight the illegitimacy of any pretext for aggression”, he states.

The ministry says Iran is proud to have “done everything necessary to avoid war.”

“Now is the time to defend the homeland and face the enemy’s military aggression”, he continues. “Just as we were prepared to negotiate, we are even more prepared than ever to defend the integrity of Iran. The Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran will respond to aggressors with firmness.”

The ministry says that the attacks violate the United Nations Charter and constitute clear armed aggression against Iran, and that the response to the action is the country’s legal and legitimate right.

Furthermore, it cites “the serious responsibility of the United Nations and its Security Council to act immediately to address the violation of international peace and security resulting from military aggression.”

The joint action comes after weeks of threats from US President Donald Trump to launch a major attack against the country. The expectation is that the operation will last over several days.

In an eight-minute video released after the announcement of military strikes on Iran, Trump warned that Tehran “must lay down its weapons or face certain death.”

According to the Iranian press, the entire territory is under attack. The Israeli army speaks of “dozens of military targets” hit so far. Iran has already begun retaliation.
