Two Iranian missiles flew towards Cyprus: Disturbing words of the British minister

  • Two missiles were fired from Iran towards the island of Cyprus.
  • British Defense Minister Healey described the Iranian regime as a growing threat to the entire region.
  • British planes shot down drones and missiles threatening bases in Qatar.

Two missiles from Iran were fired towards Cyprus, British Defense Secretary John Healey announced on Sunday. On the island, the United Kingdom has its military bases, where thousands of British soldiers are deployed. TASR informs about it according to the reports of the AFP and DPA agencies. “We don’t believe they were aimed at Cyprus, but still it is an example of how there is a very real and growing threat from a regime that is attacking the entire region,” Healey stated.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced on Saturday that UK aircraft were involved in defense operations. According to Healey, they shot down drones and missiles that threatened British and allied bases in the region, for example in Qatar.

The head of the British Ministry of Defence declined to say whether the UK had given the US permission to use the Diego Garcia military base in the Chagos Islands. He did not even comment on the question of whether, in his opinion, the attacks by the United States and Israel are legal. “Iran and the regime that (supreme leader Ali Khamenei) led for so long, they are a source of evil, murdering their own citizens and sponsoring and exporting terror, including to countries like Britain.” he stated, saying that “few people will mourn” his death.
