Witnesses would have gone after the criminal shortly after the incident and immobilized him until the Military Police arrived.
One 49-year-old man was stabbed and killed in the early hours of this Monday (2) at the Lapa Terminal in the West Zone of São Paulo. The 53-year-old man, suspected of committing the crime, was arrested red-handed.
The Public Security Secretariat (SSP) reported that technical expertise was requested and images from the terminal’s monitoring system were analyzed and confirmed who committed the crime.
The arrest in the act was converted into preventive detention, as represented by the police authority, which considered the seriousness of the crime and the background of the person being investigated. The investigation will remain under the responsibility of the Civil Police.
The incident report showed that Military police were called at around 3:50 am for an incident of aggression. However, when they arrived at the scene, they found the victim lying on the ground, no longer vital signs, and the suspect detained near Praça Miguel Dell’Erba. In a statement, the Secretariat of Social Communication (SECOM) said that the Metropolitan Civil Guard (GCM), from the Municipal Secretariat of Urban Security (SMSU), was called to the incident, but, upon arriving at the scene, the PM was already handling the case.
“The Municipal Health Department (SMS), through the Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu), responded to the call and found the death of a man at the scene. The municipal management regrets the loss”, added SECOM.
Regarding the operation of transport, the Municipal Secretariat for Urban Mobility and Transport and SPTrans said that the bus operation at Terminal Lapa is normalized. The only change occurred in the boarding and disembarking of passengers on line 8003/10 Remédios – Term. Lapa, which were only held this Monday, on Platform 1, from 4am to 10am.
