Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Sunday that he expects US negotiators to arrive in Moscow once Washington reaches an agreement with Iran to end the conflict in the Middle East. TASR informs about it based on the AFP report.
- Vladimir Putin expects the arrival of American negotiators in Moscow after the agreement with Iran.
- Moscow is ready to continue negotiations with American officials on the Middle East conflict.
- Sergey Lavrov confirmed that the visit of Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner is being considered.
- Putin declared that Russia will pursue the complete conquest of four Ukrainian regions.
- The Russian president admitted the lack of fuel and the need to strengthen air defense.
“We expect that after all the events are over, after the active phase in the Iranian issue, we will welcome those representatives of the American administration, with whom we have already met several times in Moscow,” Putin said in an interview quoted by Russian news agencies. “We are ready to continue negotiations and discuss all the details,” added Putin.
At the Moscow international scientific and professional forum called Primakov’s readings, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov also said on Wednesday that discusses the visit of the US President’s special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. Lavrov noted that Moscow is ready to hear the envoys.
On Sunday, Putin also stated that Moscow will continue to pursue its goal of the complete conquest of four Ukrainian regions. At the same time, he rejected what he called a new proposal by Ukraine to limit combat operations in the war.
Ukraine has proposed halting long-range mutual attacks as part of peace efforts. However, Moscow described it as a means of easing pressure on Kiev’s forces along the front line. “It is clear why such a proposal was made, since our counterattacks deep inside Ukrainian territory are much stronger, have a greater impact and are … more destructive,” Putin said. “Given the catastrophic shortage of personnel, the Ukrainian armed forces seem to believe that this could be their salvation. However, saving the Kyiv regime is not in our plans.” he emphasized according to the Reuters agency.
In addition, the president admitted in an interview on Sunday that Russia is suffering from “certain shortages” of fuel for repeated Ukrainian strikes and that it needs to strengthen its air defense capabilities. “Regarding attacks on critical infrastructure in general and the energy sector in particular, it is clear that these attacks on our infrastructure facilities are causing problems,” Putin said. “Currently we are observing a certain shortage, but it is not critical,” the head of the Kremlin claimed according to AFP.
