March has come, so it’s high time to think about sowing vegetables. This time we will focus on tomatoes. What to do to collect large and juicy fruits during the season? Once, feed the seedlings with a natural fertilizer made from common waste. Also find out when to sow seeds for seedlings and how to properly carry out this procedure.
Gardeners say that in March, seeds are sown for vegetable seedlings that have a long growing season. This group also includes .
That’s why it’s best to prepare seedlings from late February to April. In particular, we are talking about early varieties, i.e. Reniro F1 or Lianne F1.
Let’s not miss this deadline, because tomatoes sown after April 15 may not have time to flower and bear fruit before the end of the growing season.
We transfer the seedlings to the ground after May 15. After “cold Zośka” there is no risk of frost. Plants will be able to grow freely.

Sowing tomatoes for seedlings is not difficult. First, we prepare the appropriate substrate. We choose special soil for sowing or a mixture of peat and sand.
We pour such soil into boxes or multi-pots and we place the seeds in it to a depth of 0.5-1 cm, keeping a 2-3 cm distance between them.
After the treatment, water the tomato seedlings and cover them with foil or glass. This will ensure high humidity and temperature. Let us remind you that it should be between 20 and 25 degrees Celsius.
Even before putting the seeds into pots, it is worth feeding the soil with natural fertilizer, such as egg shells. Thanks to this, from the first days after sowing, the plants will be supplied with valuable nutrients, which will significantly influence their growth and flowering during the season.
It’s about the calcium contained in egg shells, which protects against diseases and supports the proper development of tomatoes. Apart from that this waste loosens the soil, thanks to which it better absorbs ingredients from other fertilizers and stores water.
As a result, the tomato roots will thicken. Therefore, during the season they will begin to produce large and juicy fruits. With such a thicker root system, we recommend placing the seeds in higher pots. Thanks to this, they will adapt to the ground faster.
