Aphids are a common problem in the garden. If you want to easily deal with this troublesome problem, it is worth using paraffin oil, also known as mineral oil. It can be used in many areas, including in gardening, where it will create a layer of protection for plants.
For this reason, it is often used for the first spraying in spring to help reduce the appearance of various types of pests that overwinter on trees and shrubs. These include, among others, the above-mentioned aphids, but also leaf mites, scale insects and spider mites.
Spraying with paraffin oil allows us to clean the plants before the season starts in earnest. Thanks to this, we do not have to worry about specialized pest sprays later. This is all thanks to the fact that the oil will create a thin and strong layer on the specimenswhich will cover the pests that hibernate on them, as well as the eggs they lay. It is also worth adding that the oil is safe for plants and does not penetrate them.
Paraffin oil spray can be used on many different surfaces. First of all, we can use it on fruit trees such as apple tree, cherry tree, pear tree, plum tree, cherry tree, apricot tree or peach tree.
It is also worth adding that it works great for fruit bushes. Therefore, our spraying can be performed, among others, on: currants, blueberries, raspberries and gooseberries. It is also a good idea to use it for ornamental plants, including hydrangeas and boxwood. Thanks to this, we will avoid bigger problems later in the season.

The application of spraying itself is not complicated. First, we buy paraffin oil in the store and We dilute it with water according to the proportions given on the label, usually at a concentration of about 1 to 2%.
Spray the prepared solution thoroughly over the entire tree or shrub, covering the trunk, branches and closed buds to create a thin protective layer. We perform it at the beginning of March, on a dry and windless day, when the temperature exceeds 5-7 degrees Celsius and the buds are not open yet.
