The mayor of Macapá, Dr. Furlan (PSD), and the vice-mayor, Mario Neto (Podemos), were targets of an action this Wednesday (4) by order of the minister, of the (Supreme Federal Court).
They were removed from office for 60 days, in an investigation into suspicions of a bid fraud scheme within the scope of a contract signed by the Municipal Health Department of the capital of Amapá.
There was a search at addresses linked to the mayor. The report was unable to locate Dr. Furlan’s defense.
The investigations indicate, according to the PF, suspicions of the existence of a criminal scheme that would involve public agents and businesspeople who directed bids, diverted public resources and laundered money.
The investigation focuses on the engineering project and execution of works at the Macapá Municipal General Hospital. The warrants are served in Macapá, Belém and Natal.
