Beijing surprised the Middle East: China sends a special envoy, calls for quick peace

China will send a special envoy to the Middle East to broker peace thereChinese Foreign Minister Wang I announced on Wednesday. TASR informs about it according to the report of the AFP agency. “China strongly urges all parties… to return to dialogue and negotiations as soon as possible and prevent further escalation of tensions,” declared the Chinese minister.

Wang I said in a phone call with Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan that China will “send a special envoy for Middle East issues to states in the region for negotiations.” However, Beijing did not specify in its statement which countries this envoy will visit.

China is a close partner of Iran and says it supports it in defending its sovereignty. The United States and Israel, which launched a joint operation against Tehran on Saturday, are calling for a halt to these attacks.

In a phone call with Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar on Tuesday, the head of Chinese diplomacy said that Beijing opposes military strikes on Iran and supports solving problems through “dialogue and consultation”. Iran in response to US and Israeli strikes carries out retaliatory attacks on neighboring states, including Saudi Arabia, where drones hit the American embassy complex in Riyadh on Tuesday.
