Most do not remember the name of a deputy or senator, says Datafolha

A survey released on Sunday (June 28, 2026) shows low recognition among congressmen. According to the survey, 68% of Brazilians did not know or did not want to spontaneously name any federal deputy in office. Among senators, the rate reached 75%.

The question was asked without presenting a list of names. Respondents responded if they remembered any sitting congressman and, if so, said who it was.

The survey interviewed 2,004 people in 139 municipalities from June 17 to 18, 2026. The margin of error is 2.2 percentage points, plus or minus. The survey is registered with the Superior Electoral Court under number BR-09956/2026. The study cost R$307,641.60. It was paid by the company Folha da Manhã.
In the Chamber, 36% said they did not remember any federal deputy and 32% said they did not know. Among the names mentioned, (PL-MG) leads, with 6%, followed by (Psol-SP), with 4%. Other deputies appear with 1%.

In the Senate, 40% responded that they did not remember any names and 35% said they did not know. The most remembered senator was (PL-RJ), with 3%. (PL-RJ), (Republicanos-MG) and (PL-PR) appear next, with 2% each.

Those most remembered in the Chamber were:

  • Nikolas Ferreira (PL-MG): 6%;
  • Erika Hilton (Psol-SP): 4%;
  • (Mission-SP): 1%;
  • (Psol-SP): 1%;
  • (PT-RJ): 1%;
  • (PL-GO): 1%.

The survey also recorded mentions of Cleitinho, who is a senator, and (PL-SP), who had his mandate as federal deputy revoked last December, after moving to the United States and being accused of coercing Brazilian authorities.

In the Senate, the most cited were:

  • Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ): 3%;
  • Romário (PL-RJ): 2%;
  • Cleitinho (Republicanos-MG): 2%;
  • Sergio Moro (PL-PR): 2%;
  • (Republicans-DF): 1%;
  • (União Brasil-AP): 1%;
  • (PL-SP): 1%;
  • (MDB-AM): 1%;
  • (MDB-PA): 1%;
  • (PSD-BA): 1%;
  • (MDB-AL): 1%;
  • (PP-SC): 1%;
  • (Novo-CE): 1%;
  • (PL-RN): 1%;
  • (Republicanos-RS): 1%.

The lack of memory also appears when interviewees are asked about their own vote in the 2022 elections. According to Datafolha, 67% do not remember who they voted for as federal deputy, 66% do not remember the choice for senator and 66% also do not remember their vote for state deputy.

The contrast is greater in relation to the presidential contest. Only 7% said they did not remember who they voted for president in 2022, while 85% said they remembered the choice. For governor, 38% said they did not remember their vote, 54% said they remembered and 9% said they did not vote for anyone.

The survey was carried out in person with 2,004 people aged 16 or over, in 139 municipalities, on June 17th and 18th. The margin of error is 2 percentage points, plus or minus.
