The mayor of , () stated this Friday (6) during an event with the president (PT) that he will resign from his position “to play in another palace”, in reference to the dispute for the state government.
“I’m leaving in 15 days. […] I’m tired of my palace. I want to play in another palace. Cavaliere takes over as mayor here.”, he said, citing the current vice-mayor.
Paes and Lula participated in the inauguration of the Professor Moacyr Sreder Bastos tunnel, in Campo Grande, west of Rio de Janeiro, one of the main interventions on the neighborhood’s Ring Road, whose investment is R$1 billion.
The region is one where the former president (PL) had the greatest advantage over Lula in the city in 2022.
Paes must resign on March 20 to run for the Guanabara Palace. This leaves the City Palace and Gávea Pequena, the mayor’s official residence.
Despite the alliance with Lula, his ticket will be from the MDB: Jane Reis, sister of former deputy Washington Reis, who maintains links with Bolsonarism.
The PL intends to launch it to the government and will have the support of the federation formed by PP and União Brasil.
