The use of the Lajes Base, in the Azores, placed the Israeli-American intervention in Iran at the center of national political discussion. Rui Tavares does not defend the scrapping of the agreement that allows the Americans to use the base based on the island of Terceira, but accuses the government of having placed itself “in a situation of voluntary ignorance”.
Regarding Iran, the Livre spokesman has no doubt that “it has a nuclear program” that “the whole world sees” and defends international sanctions that could isolate the regime and make it retreat.
Returning to the presidential result that left the candidate supported by Livre in third place, Rui Tavares continues to defend Jorge Pinto’s role in the campaign and looks to Seguro as a “hope” for “being able to be inspired by Sampaio’s example”.
