Persian Gulf countries on Sunday reported missile and drone attacks from Iran, who promised to continue strikes on neighboring countries, TASR writes, according to an AFP report. Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Kuwait reported new attacks on Sunday. The day before, loud explosions were heard in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and in Bahrain, in the metropolis of Manama.
- Iran has carried out missile and drone attacks on several Persian Gulf countries.
- Kuwait cut oil production as a precaution after waves of enemy drones.
Kuwait’s National Oil Company announced a “precautionary” reduction in oil production, after the military said on Sunday it was responding to “a wave of hostile drones that penetrated the country’s airspace”. Fuel tanks at Kuwait International Airport were targeted in a drone strike in what the military described as a “direct attack on vital infrastructure”.
A separate statement said some civilian facilities suffered material damage due to falling fragments of intercepted missiles and rockets. Qatar’s Ministry of Defense announced on Sunday that the country had been targeted by 10 ballistic missiles the day before and two cruise missiles fired from Iran, but most were intercepted and caused no casualties.
The Saudi Ministry of Defense reported the capture and destruction of 15 drones in the kingdom’s airspaceincluding an attempted attack on the diplomatic quarter in the capital, Riyadh. In a rare televised address, UAE President Muhammad bin Zayed Al Nahyan said the emirates were in a “time of war,” but stressed they would “come out of it stronger.” Dubai authorities announced on Saturday that a Pakistani citizen had been killed by debris from an intercepted missile.
The aggression occurred despite the fact that Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkiyan apologized to Gulf countries on Saturday for attacks that occurred during the Islamic Republic’s war with Israel and the United States. “I apologize … to the neighboring countries that were attacked by Iran. … There will be no further attacks on neighboring countries and no missiles will be fired unless the attack on Iran comes from those countries,” he said.
A few hours later, however, the highest representative of Iranian justice, Gholám Hossein Mohsení Ežeí, declared that Iran will continue to attack neighboring countries that aid enemy states in aggression against it.
