A 5.3-magnitude earthquake woke residents: Minor landslides and power outages are reported in the region

An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.3 struck parts of northwestern Greece and the region around the island of Corfu early Sunday morning.. The DPA agency drew attention to this, reports TASR.

According to the Geodynamic Institute of the University of Athens, there were slight tremors around 5:32 a.m. local time (4:32 a.m. CET). The epicenter of the earthquake was located on the mainland of Greece near the city of Ioannina at a depth of approximately ten kilometers. The earthquake was followed by a number of smaller aftershocks. According to the Greek media, some of them were also felt in the southern part of Albania.

The DPA states that minor landslides occurred in some areas. Local media also reported on temporary power outages. Earthquake expert Efthymios Lekkas told Greek television ERTNews that no injuries or significant damage to buildings were initially reported.
