Corinthians released an official note this Sunday afternoon (8) repudiating a video in which influencers, wearing the club’s shirt, dance with the image of Jeffrey Epstein.
In recent days, influencer Igor Job made a post on social media, alongside another influencer, Yan Romariz, in which they both dance using a filter with the face of the financier accused of sexual abuse and pedophilia. In the video, Igor appears wearing an Alvinegro shirt.
In a statement, he spoke out against the “reduction of serious issues, especially those involving extremely serious crimes, such as pedophilia”.
He states that he does not condone the attitudes that relativize crimes and, also, the association of his shield with people and speeches in this sense.
Both Igor and Yan have not yet addressed the controversy, but have deleted the previously published video. In comments, the influencer mocked a possible apology and agreed with a user who put the topic as a ‘cancellation by the sealers’.
Both influencers have a combined following of more than 3.6 million on Instagram alone.
See, in full, the official note from Corinthians:
“Sport Club Corinthians Paulista strongly rejects any type of demonstration or behavior that diminishes serious issues, especially those involving extremely serious crimes, such as pedophilia.
Corinthians is a century-old institution, built on values of respect, diversity, inclusion and integrity. We do not, under any circumstances, condone attitudes that promote or relativize crimes, nor with behaviors that violate human dignity.
We reaffirm that the Corinthians shield cannot and will not be associated with people, speeches or agendas that contradict the principles that historically represent the club and its immense fans.
We will remain firm in defending respect, justice and the values that make Corinthians an institution that goes far beyond football.”
