The heavy rains that hit the city of São Paulo this weekend left a trail of destruction in the Saúde neighborhood, in the south of the capital. The force of the water caused the collapse of part of the wall from a CrossFit box on Sunday afternoon (8), completely flooding the place with mud e causing the loss of much of the equipment (see the images in the report below).
Security cameras recorded the moment when the water burst the gym’s structure, around 3:30 pm, taking over the space in a few seconds. The volume of the flood rose significantly, reaching a considerable height on the walls of the establishment.
The impact of the water was so strong that it also affected neighboring houses. According to Ricardo Tost, responsible for the establishment, the residents of the house next door lost all their possessions and needed climb on the roof to surviveas the residence was completely taken over by the flood.
Those responsible for the academy only managed to enter the site safely at around 8:30 pm, around five hours after the disaster, when the water level finally dropped so they could assess the real extent of the damage. The estimated loss exceeds the R$ 100 mila value that will be concentrated mainly in reconstruction of the wallwhich had the damaged structurein addition to the replacement of lost materials.
This Monday (9), the scene left by the storm is one of a lot of dirt and destruction. Box students mobilized as volunteers to help remove the thick layer of mud and sort what can be saved.
