Donald Trump initiated an hour-long phone call with Vladimir Putin. The leaders discussed the tense situation in Iran and the Ukrainian issue.

Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke on the phone with his American counterpart Donald Trump on Monday, the adviser to the head of the Kremlin, Yuriy Ushakov, announced. During the approximately one-hour conversation, they talked about the conflict in Iran and the war in Ukraine, TASR writes, according to reports from world agencies.

“Emphasis was placed on the situation regarding the conflict with Iran and ongoing bilateral negotiations with representatives of the United States to resolve the Ukrainian issue,” Ushakov declared. According to him, the conversation was “open and constructive, as usual”.

It was the first conversation between the presidents of Russia and the United States in two months and the first since the start of the US-Israeli operation in Iran. According to Ušak, the phone call was initiated by the American president.
