The statements collected by SIC highlight the support received from local authorities, the city’s advanced anti-missile system and the normality maintained in daily life.
Portuguese residents in Dubai report feeling safe in the city, despite regional tensions and the circulation of fake news about attacks.
These are days of misinformation and fake news, like those that reported an alleged attack against the Burj Khalifa or the fire in Burj Al Arab.
The truth may be that, without all the information, an omen of war cannot be received calmly.
“The first day was shocking, but they supported us, they told us what was happening. The support was great”, reports Sara Rodrigues to SIC.
This is perhaps where the Portuguese highlight the biggest difference between Dubai and Portugal.
“We have one of the most sophisticated anti-missile systems in the world. Not even Portugal has one because Portugal doesn’t have an anti-missile system”, says Miguel Novais.
Sara Novais says that “nothing has closed” and that life continues normally.
The Portuguese say that, ali, the security is taken very seriously.
And that’s why none of these three Portuguese citizens are considering leaving Dubai.
