Police officers suspected of extorting CV members are targets of operation in Rio

Civil police suspected of extort members of the CV (Comando Vermelho) are the targets of a Federal Police operation, this Tuesday morning (10), in the city of Rio de Janeiro.

The corporation serves four preventive arrest warrants and three search and seizure warrants. The group is also investigated for committing corruption and money laundering.

The investigations revealed that the scheme was led by a police authority, who would be head of a police station in the capital, and by another civil police officer.

According to investigations, the servers pressured and coerced those in faction with the aim of receive bribes for omission in official acts.

In addition to the warrants, precautionary measures are also being implemented to decapitalize the group. These include the immediate removal from public duties of the investigated police officers, the suspension of the exercise of business activities by legal entities used in criminal practices and the blocking of amounts in bank accounts and crypto assets linked to the targets.

How the scheme worked

According to the Federal Police, illicit negotiations between police officers and CV members occurred with incisive demands and the imposition of deadlines.

For the operations to be successful, with the receipt of undue advantages and distancing from the faction’s leaders, the police counted on the help of two intermediaries.

Furthermore, the corporation found that the police officers investigated had million-dollar asset movements that were incompatible with their legal salaries.

To hide and conceal the money, the group relied on a network of shell companies registered in the name of family members, which became targets of judicial suspension.

According to the PF, those investigated must answer for the crimes of criminal organization, extortion, passive and active corruption, in addition to money laundering.

The corporation’s action is part of the “Redentor Mission II Task Force”, a new phase of “Operation Anomaly”.
