Tarcísio creates Civil Police advisory for the city of SP

The governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans), created a Civil Police Advisory for the São Paulo City Hall. The measure, published in the Official State Gazette this Wednesday (11), was a request from Mayor Ricaro Nunes (MDB) in 2023 and establishes a direct and institutional link between a state police and the municipal executive power.

The new body will integrate the basic structure of the Civil Policewhich is linked to the State Public Security Secretariat (SSP-SP), and will be headed by a member of the Police Chief career.

The new consultancy was created to support e police security to public administration actions of the city. The body’s responsibilities include:

Authority advice: provide direct assistance and civil police advice to the mayor of São Paulo, Ricardo Nunes (MDB) and, when indicated by him, to the members of his Secretariat;

Field monitoring: accompany agents of the Municipal Executive Branch during the fulfillment of actions that have the potential to end in the preparation of police reports at the police stations. Furthermore, the department may carry out its own external operations to support City Hall missions, when requested;

Intelligence and data crossing: assist the City Hall in gathering strategic information through searches of the Civil Police databases;

Referral of crimes: If the City Hall comes across signs of crimes during the analysis of its internal processes and files, it will be up to the Office to officially report the case to the competent police units so that an investigation can take place;

Institutional bridge: Act as the municipality’s main interlocutor to request assistance from other Civil Police units and departments whenever necessary;
