Eduardo Jesus, president of the Madeira Promotion Association and regional secretary of Economy, Tourism and Culture, highlighted the importance of this international distinction. According to him, the awards received serve as recognition for the work carried out, but also increase the responsibility of maintaining high quality standards.

“The awards and distinctions received are always important recognition for our work, but they also increase demands and serve as incentives for us to continue positioning ourselves as a reference destination, offering different and unique experiences”, he stated.

Portugal’s presence in these awards was not limited to Madeira. The country also obtained relevant results in other categories evaluated by the magazine’s readers. Portugal was considered the tenth “Most Desired Country” to visit. Lisbon took fifth place among the “Most Desired Cities” and the Azores reached fourth place in the “Most Desired Regions” category, according to the same source.

These results reinforce the international visibility of Portuguese tourism and show that different regions of the country continue to arouse interest among travelers from all over the world.
