TCU gives the government 6 months to deliver a plan for the Women’s Cup

Court of Accounts demands plan on long-term benefits of the event and monitoring of tournament organization

O (Federal Audit Court) determined this Wednesday (March 11, 2026) that the federal government present within 6 months a National Legacy Plan for coordinated between the Union, States, municipalities and entities representing the sport. Read the decision (PDF – 941 kB).

The document must include strategic objectives, funding sources and mechanisms for continuous monitoring of the event organization, which in 8 Brazilian capitals on June 24 and July 25, 2027. The Court requests that the benefits and sustainable impacts of the tournament for sport and Brazilian society be presented in the Plan.

The Court of Auditors also asked the Ministry of Sports to participate in the meetings of the CGCOPA 2027 (Managing Committee of the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027) and the (GECOPA 2027 (Executive Group of the World Cup). The groups bring together 23 federal bodies, 13 of which are ministries, and are responsible for planning the event.

The decision also authorizes monitoring by AudEducação, a TCU audit unit that monitors federal spending on initiatives focused on education, culture, sport and human rights.
