The governor of , (Republicans), stated this Wednesday (11) that the minister (Finance), his likely candidate this year, increased a tax every 30 days.
The speech was a response to Haddad, who in an interview with José Luiz last week stated that the São Paulo Government is shielded from criticism.
“Do you, being part of the media, think this is true? The media will always criticize. No one is shielded from criticism anywhere. There are good jobs and there are jobs that are bad. What can I do if he raised a tax every 30 days? It’s not my fault, it’s his fault”, said Tarcísio after Haddad’s speech was mentioned.
When asked how he will face the electoral dispute, the governor of São Paulo stated that he “does not choose an opponent”. “We’re going to show what we did and what we have in the pipeline.”
According to the latest Datafolha survey, published last week, in all scenarios of the São Paulo dispute, with rates above 40% in the first round. In second round simulations, the governor wins with scores ranging from 50% to 60%.
Haddad scored 31% in the first round, scoring better than vice Geraldo Alckmin (PSB) and the minister. In a second round against Tarcísio, however, the minister loses with a difference of 19 percentage points.
Regarding the two vacancies for the Senate that will also be decided in this year’s election, the governor said he was “very confident”.
“We are going to make a very big campaign effort, to show how important it is for us to be well represented in the Senate and have complete alignment. We are going to defend the in-person candidacy, for the state government and for the Senate as well, and we hope that this can raise awareness among São Paulo voters. I am very confident in relation to the Senate vacancies”, he said.
Voting intentions for the House, however, are being led by the left. Haddad and vice-president Geraldo Alckmin (PSB) were the best placed in the Datafolha survey, which showed better performance in the progressive camp than in the right.
The survey was carried out before Haddad decided, this week, that he will leave the Finance portfolio to .
Despite having commented on the dispute, Tarcísio stated that he does not know who will be the second candidate supported by him in the state. One of the vacancies should be contested by Guilherme Derrite, federal deputy and former secretary to the governor.
“Whoever is chosen will represent the state of São Paulo well,” said Tarcísio.
