CPMI asks the STF to review the decision that barred Vorcaro’s testimony

The president of the Joint Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry (CPMI) that investigates irregularities at the INSS, senator Carlos Viana (Podemos-MG), met this Wednesday (11) with minister André Mendonça, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), and defended the review of the decisions that prevented testimonies from those being investigated and witnesses at the commission, including banker Daniel Vorcaro, owner of Banco Master.

According to Viana, Mendonça said that he must release the appeals presented by CPMI for a collegiate trial so that Vorcaro and other defendants can give testimony. Last month, the minister provided the banker’s statement.

“For us, it is a matter of honor for (Vorcaro) to appear at the CPI. He will go to the CPMI and will be treated as a normal, ordinary person, like everyone else, with statements to be made”, stated the senator.

The banker was called to explain the Master’s alleged involvement with a businessman illegally granting INSS retirees and pensioners.

Dino’s decision

In an interview after the meeting with the minister, the president of the Commission also criticized the decision of minister Flávio Dino who authorized the president of Palmeiras and Crefisa, Leila Pereira, to cancel the statement she would give as a witness this Thursday (12).

Supported by the decision, Leila informed that she will not attend CPMI tomorrow. However, a new deposition was scheduled for next Wednesday (18th).

“It is yet another decision that shows the invasion of prerogatives, disrespect for our work, because coming to the National Congress is more important than a personal agenda. The minister orders us to set a new date for a witness. We need, in Congress, to take a position”, he commented.

Leaks

The senator also stated that the commission was not responsible for the leak of Vorcaro’s banking, tax and telematics secret data. Last week, Mendonça ordered the Federal Police to open an investigation to investigate the case.

“The CPI has no official responsibility, because we do not have most of the documents that were leaked. We have a functional responsibility for keeping everything that has been given to us”, he stated.
