Renewable energy sector wants priority in elections – 03/12/2026 – Panel

Renewable energy companies and entities prepare a letter to the presidential candidates with public policy suggestions for the sector, in addition to listing the bottlenecks faced in the electrical system.

The document must be delivered in the first semester. The objective is to mobilize future candidates to include the topic in government programs. The initiative is coordinated by the Global Renewables Alliance (GRA).

and that, if it continues like this, Brazil will not advance in the decarbonization of the economy, making the entry of foreign investments even more difficult.

The entrepreneurs defend, for example, that the first auction for the transfer of use of maritime areas takes place this year.

To the Panel, the president of the Renewable Energy Mobilization Committee, Elbia Gannoum, said that the letter will also point out that the sector faces tax and regulatory barriers.

“The country has great offshore wind potential, but almost no projects have come to fruition. The energy market is centralized and analogue, which compromises Brazilian competitiveness compared to countries that have already liberalized the sector,” he said.

Among the solutions already raised by the sector are the creation of energy storage systems. The charge is made after it directly affected the industrial factory in the country.

Among those signing the letter are companies such as Abrage (Brazilian Association of Electricity Generating Companies), CELA (Clean Energy Latin America) and ENBPar.
