UNESCO’s “International Day of Mathematics” (IDM), initiated by the International Mathematical Union, is celebrated annually on March 14th. Already today, Friday, on the occasion of the proclaimed day – the English spelling 3.14 refers to the mathematical circular constant Pi is and is also celebrated in some places as “Pi Day” – a door to mathematics in Vienna will be opened to the general public from 2 p.m.: that of the main building of the Austrian Academy of Sciences (ÖAW), together with the Vienna University of Technology and the University of Vienna.
