On February 5th, at 4:20 p.m., Christoph Matznetter took the lectern to speak in the Bundesrat – the state chamber of parliament – about the Mercosur agreement. This was followed by a plea for free trade, criticism of Europe’s dependence on other parts of the world – and a sentence that later earned Matznetter a call to order.
