Pressure from the Master on the STF increases the chances of Bolsonaro dominating, say allies

The former president’s new hospitalization, who is in the ICU, is also seen as a possible asset in the reserve captain’s defense

DF – BOLSONATO/STF/TRIAL/CONVICTION/27 YEARS – POLITICS – **ALTERNATIVE CUTTING** The former president, Jair Bolsonaro, made an appearance lasting around 20 minutes this Thursday, September 11, 2025, in front of the house where he is under house arrest, in Brasília (DF). The First Panel of the Federal Supreme Court today set the sentence for Bolsonaro, convicted of trying to carry out a coup d’état after losing the 2022 elections, at 27 years and three months in an initial closed regime – 24 years and nine months in prison and 2 years and six months in detention, with a 124-day fine (equivalent to two minimum wages). Hospitalized this Friday (13) due to bilateral bacterial infections, former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) will try to file a request for house arrest with the Federal Supreme Court (STF) again. Interlocutors interviewed by the column assess that the more delicate situation of the reserve captain in this hospitalization, added to the strain suffered by the Judiciary with the Master case and the work of the former president’s allies behind the scenes increase the defense’s chances of obtaining the humanitarian benefit.

After feeling ill, Bolsonaro was rushed to DF Star hospital, where he is admitted to the ICU. Despite the stable condition, Bolsonaro’s personal doctors insist that his health would be better protected at home. The opinion is not shared by the experts who evaluated the former president, who say there is no need for house arrest.

With the election period approaching, however, Bolsonaro’s allies believe that this latest hospitalization tends to sympathize with the ministers. If not for Bolsonaro’s health itself, for the fear of being associated with a possible deterioration in the health of such a popular politician.

Earlier this month, minister Alexandre de Moraes again denied the defense’s request of the former president so that he could be taken to house arrestclaiming that Papudinha does not have sufficient infrastructure for medical care. A Moraes’ decision was endorsed by the First Panel of the Court.

In February, allies of the former president of the Supreme Court to grant the benefit to the former president: the president of the Court, Edson Fachin, and ministers Gilmar Mendes, Luiz Fux, André Mendonça and Kassio Nunes Marques. The court, which has 11 seats, only has 10 serving ministers after the retirement of Luís Roberto Barroso. The column found that Bolsonaro’s allies believe that Dias Toffoli could be the decisive vote to send the PL’s honorary president home. Rapporteur of the case and considered Bolsonaro’s “executioner”, Minister Alexandre de Moraes is the most resistant to the possibility.

Moraes and Toffoli are exactly the two ministers most affected by the developments in the Master case. The column found that the strategy of some of the former president’s allies would be to soften criticism of the Judiciary if Bolsonaro is sent home. However, there was no negotiation with the ministers.

Although the bill is considered good for the right — as the issue is due to the attempt to circumvent the electronic ankle bracelet — the benefit would only be granted from April onwards, after the deadline for disqualification (the period in which politicians must step aside from their positions to contest elections) for the electoral period. The understanding is that the STF wants to avoid greater interference from Bolsonaro in the 2026 election.

The work is being done by several hands. As anticipated by Young Panformer first lady Michelle Bolsonaro (PL) and the governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans), in favor of change. Tarcísio is in Brasília this Wednesday and will be received by Moraes, Gilmar, Toffoli and Cristiano Zanin at the Supreme Court, but the meeting’s agenda is different.

In the National Congress, senators allied with the former president continue to move. The congressmen’s idea is to increase pressure on ministers, who tend to want to avoid a new struggle between the powers. The assessment of right-wing representatives heard by the column is that a decision in favor of Bolsonaro would help to pacify the relationship between the Powers.

Understand hospitalization

Bolsonaro is hospitalized after feeling ill. Information about referral to the intensive care unit was released by the health unit in the early afternoon of this Friday (13).

as to Young Pan had anticipated, Bolsonaro was diagnosed with bronchopneumonia (understand what is below). The diagnosis came after the former president was taken to DF Star Hospital for feeling ill and having chills in “Papudinha”where he is trapped.
