Presenter announced the death of the former basketball player during the live broadcast, after the participant was informed about the loss of her father, Gerardo Renault
On Sunday’s live edition (19) of Big Brother Brasil 26 (BBB 26), presenter Tadeu Schmidt broke program protocols and revealed to , Oscar Schmidt, to support participant Ana Paula. She had been informed about Gerardo Renault shortly before the broadcast and decided permanecer no reality show.
When speaking to the finalists, Tadeu stated that he would like to give Ana Paula a hug. Then, he justified breaking the rule to interact with the participant. “I also wanted to tell you something that is completely outside of protocol. But, at these times, protocol be damned”, said the presenter.
Emotional, Tadeu explained that Oscar’s death occurred on Friday (17). “I am also experiencing grief. My brother died the day before yesterday. […] I respect anything you do so much. I really respect this moment you are living in”, he declared.
The presenter closed the subject by citing the reactions that the participant’s father and her brother would have to their remaining on the program. “Based on what you say about your relationship with your father, I imagine that Gerardo would be applauding you, immensely proud of you. As I know my brother would say to me: ‘Don’t you dare leave’, because that was my relationship with him”, he stated.

Death of Gerardo Renault
Ana Paula’s team announced on Sunday night that the participant’s father, Gerardo Renault, died at 96 years old. Despite the family decided not to notify the journalistthe production of the program told the veteran about the death of the former deputy.

Who was Gerardo Renault
In addition to Ana Paula, Gerardo Renault had four more children: Gisele, Rene, Cibele and Maria Aparecida, or Cida. Born September 17, 1929, He was a lawyer and built a solid political career in Minas Gerais.
In 1951, he was elected councilor of Belo Horizonte by the Brazilian Democratic Union (UDN). He was re-elected in 1954, 1958 and 1962. After the end of bipartisanship in Brazil, in 1979, transferred to the Social Democratic Party (PDS)successor to Arena. He was elected federal deputy. He left the Chamber of Deputies at the end of his term in 1986.
