The 98th Academy Awards will be held this Sunday (March 15, 2026) at the Dolby Theater, in Los Angeles (USA). The main award in the film industry starts at 9pm (Brasília time) and will be broadcast ona TV Globofor the TNT and by Max. The presentation will be by comedian Conan O’Brien.

The Brazilian film “The Secret Agent”directed by Kleber Mendonça Filho, competes in 4 categories: best film, best foreign film, best cast and best actor, with Wagner Moura.

The Pernambuco director’s feature film was well received by critics, but is not the favorite to take home the main statuette. “One Battle After Another” It won best film at the Producers Guild of America and Bafta, considered Oscar bellwethers. Already “Sinners” It is the work that competes in the most categories: 16 in total, a record.

The list of those expected to win is based on the main thermometers before the event:

  • Producers Guild of America (PGA) Award;
  • Directors Guild of America (DGA) Award;
  • Actors Guild Award (SAG);

Director Paul Thomas Anderson, from “One Battle After Another”won in the best director category at the Directors Guild of America.

In the Actors Guild, the winners were Michael B. Jordan, from “Sinners”as best actor; Jessie Buckley from “Hamnet: A Life Before Hamlet”as best actress; Sean Penn, from “One Battle After Another”as best supporting actor; and Amy Madigan, from “The Dark Hour”as best supporting actress.

In the other 3 categories in which “The Secret Agent” competes for best foreign film, best cast and best actor, the chances are greater. The film, however, lost to “Valor Sentimental” in the best non-English language film category at Bafta.

Other films are also tipped to win awards, such as “Hamnet”, “Marty Supreme” e “Train Dreams”.
