Pope Leo XIV. on Sunday, he again called for peace in the Middle East, interceding for an end to the war and a resumption of dialogue. For two weeks, the nations of the Middle East have been suffering from the terrible violence of war, the pontiff said during the regular Angelus prayer, reports AFP, writes TASR.
“Thousands of innocent people have been killed and countless others have been forced to flee their homes. Again, I express my closeness to all those who have lost loved ones in attacks on schools, hospitals and residential areas.”
Leo XIV. declared that the situation in Lebanon was particularly worrying. “On behalf of Christians in the Middle East and all people of good will, I appeal to those responsible for this conflict,” he said. “Cease fire! Let the avenues of dialogue be reopened! Violence can never lead to the justice, stability and peace that people crave,” stated Leo in his prayer.
