A drone attack hit the Ali Al Salem air base, in , which houses troops from the United States and Italy, this Sunday (15), according to the chief of the Italian General Staff, General Luciano Portolano.
During the attack, an Italian Air Force drone was destroyed.
Portolano stated what o equipment era “fundamental to to maintain as operations and base em operation.”
“All personnel are safe and have not been affected,” said the general.
In the days leading up to the attack, the Italian force was reduced “in response to the evolving security situation in the region”.
The soldiers remaining at the base are “performing essential mission activities”, while the situation is constantly monitored by the Italian General Staff and the Joint Operations Headquarters, which maintain continuous contact with the contingents on site.
