
Four arrested, suspected of various crimes related to the supply and installation of festive illuminations.
The Judicial Police (PJ) seas today four people suspicions of crimes of active and passive corruption, economic participation in business, abuse of power and criminal association, related to the supply and installation of festive illuminations.
In , the PJ said that a police operation was carried out through the Northern Directorate in the context of economic-financial crime, with the arrest of “an administrator and an employee of a private company, a president of a private association and a public employee”.
It’s called “Lumen” operation; and 26 home and non-domestic searches were carried out, in various areas of the country, in public and private entities and companies.
Judicial source indicated that searches in 10 municipalities: Lisbon, Tavira, Lamego, Maia, Figueira da Foz, Viseu, Trofa, Póvoa de Varzim, Ovar and Santa Maria da Feira.
The investigation began due to a complaint related to the alleged tampering of bidding processes related to the supply and installation of festive lighting, used during the Christmas season and in the celebration of various festivities.
The investigations carried out revealed the existence of a criminal scheme, of an organized and systemic naturetending to taint procedures public procurementhe explains to PJ.
Non-center company
The company Castros Festive Illuminationsin Vila Nova de Gaia, was also the target of searches. It is at the center of these suspicions.
This company would have guaranteed contracts for 8 million eurosthrough “illegally obtaining privileged information in exchange for financial compensation attributed to members of contracting entities, in subversion of the rules of transparency, equality and competition in the market”, details the PJ.
