A woman died this Tuesday morning (17) after showing symptoms compatible with food poisoning, amid an outbreak that led more than 100 people to seek medical attention in
The victim was identified as Rayssa Maritein Bezerra e Silva44 years old. She had been hospitalized since Monday (16) at the Pombal Regional Hospital, the unit that confirmed her death.
According to the medical team, the patient was admitted with symptoms such as diarrhea, vomiting and abdominal pain. The condition evolved quickly, requiring transfer to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), where he remained in a very serious condition, with signs of severe infection.

Family members reported that Rayssa had consumed pizza on Sunday (15), together with her boyfriend. The two sought medical attention on the same day and were released, but she felt unwell again the following morning and had to be hospitalized again.
According to Pombal Municipal Health Departmentat least 114 people sought medical attention with similar symptoms, such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea and malaise. The cases were registered both in the Emergency Care Unit and in the municipality’s regional hospital.

A Paraíba State Health Surveillance Agency carried out an inspection at the establishment mentioned by the patients. The place was closed by municipal health surveillance, and samples of food and supplies were collected for laboratory analysis.
Among the patients treated, only one eight-year-old child remains hospitalized. The others received medical care and have already been discharged.
Authorities continue to monitor the situation and advise that anyone experiencing symptoms related to food poisoning seek medical attention immediately.
