Janja receives honorable mention in Mulheres das Águas award

First lady and women who work in fishing and aquaculture were honored this Wednesday (18th March)

The first lady received an honorable mention in the 3rd edition of the Mulheres das Águas award, offered by the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture. Janja and 11 other women with leading roles in the fishing sector in Brazil were honored at the National Theater, in Brasília, this Wednesday (18.mar.2026).

Janja has been engaged in actions and programs aimed at fishing in the 3rd term of the president (PT).

In August 2025, the first lady of the Z-10 Fisherman’s Colony in Itapissuma (PE). “It was in this rich, intense and impactful experience that brought me closer to women fishermen and shellfish gatherers. I got to know up close the beauty, but also the hardships of this activity in which women put their fingerprints at every stage”declared in a speech at the awards ceremony.

During the visit to the colony, Janja and the ministers (Fisheries and Aquaculture), (Transport) and Anielle Franco (Racial Equality) announced the allocation of R$500,000 for the expansion of the cooperative and the delivery of computers and other equipment to promote the digital inclusion of the community.

At the end of last year, the first lady participated in another action in the Z-10 colony. Alongside André de Paula and (Health), he launched the “Mais Saúde dos Povos das Águas” program, which expanded access to healthcare for fishing communities throughout the national territory.
