Government creates volunteer fire brigade service to combat fires

The government of Acre established the Voluntary Forest Brigade Environmental Service, aimed at preventing, monitoring and combating fires and forest fires in the state. The measure was made official in a decree published on .

According to the text, the action will be voluntary, without generating an employment, social security or statutory relationship. Even so, participants may receive a compensation grant to cover expenses related to field activities.

The service will be coordinated by the State Secretariat for the Environment, with technical support from , responsible for guiding training and operational guidelines.

Among the program’s responsibilities are monitoring risk areas, supporting firefighting and prevention actions during dry periods, when fire outbreaks increase in the state.

The selection of volunteers will be made through a public notice, which will define criteria, requirements and conditions for participation. Admission will occur by signing a membership agreement, with rules on rights, duties and possibilities for dismissal.

The initiative integrates government strategies to strengthen the response to environmental fires and expand preventive action, especially in more vulnerable regions during the dry period.
