Internally, the governor assesses that Fernando Haddad would have a peaceful election to the Senate
With the pre-candidacy for Palácio dos Bandeirantes about to be announced this Thursday (19), the Minister of Finance, Fernando Haddad, is seen as a good member of the PT by the current governor of the StateTarcísio de Freitas (Republicans). Internally, Tarcísio does not deny that Haddad was “harmed” and “sacrificed” by his own party.
Behind the scenes of the Palace, Tarcísio often says that Haddad had good intentions when commanding the Ministry of Financeand considers that the rival was “harmed” by the PT in several ways. In the opinion of the head of the São Paulo Executive, the minister tried to create good policies, but was forced to spend more money than he would have liked to follow the profile expected by Lula and his allies, of granting benefits and injecting money into the economy.
Tarcísio also confides in his assistants that he believes Haddad would be easily elected to the Senatebut will again be “sacrificed” in favor of Lula. The minister is seen internally in the PT as a booster for the president in São Paulo,
As the column has already shown, . The understanding is that re-election is based on approval, exactly the point at which Tarcísio has good ratings.
Despite this, for the PT, Haddad is the best cadre. Even though he lost three previous elections – re-election to the Mayor of São Paulo, in 2016; presidential election in 2018; and the Palácio dos Bandeirantes in 2022, after being won by Tarcísio himself -, the reading is that Haddad had the lowest performance of the acronym in years. Since 2002, the PT has not reached a second round in São Paulo, and Haddad won 44% of the votes, against around 55% for Tarcísio.
