US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth calls on European allies to thank Trump for the strike against Iran. He refuses to reveal how long the fighting will last, talking about a specific type of war.
US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said on Thursday that US allies should thank US President Donald Trump for military action against Iran. He refused to say how long the war would last. TASR writes about it according to the AP agency.
“Our ungrateful allies in Europe and some of our media should say one thing to President Trump: ‘Thank you. Thank you for having the courage to stop this terrorist group from holding the world hostage while developing or attempting to develop an atomic bomb,'” Hegseth said.
The specific nature of war
The defense minister denied that the war in Iran would take the form of what happened in Afghanistan or Iraq. “This is not that kind of war,” he said, calling former presidents fools who destroyed the credibility of the United States. “President Trump knows it best. Operation Epic Fury is different. It is precise. It is forceful,” he emphasized.
According to him, the goals of the US in Iran have not changed and remain to destroy Iran’s missile arsenal and ensure that Tehran never develops a nuclear weapon. The director of the American National Intelligence Service (DNI) Tulsi Gabbardová declared on Wednesday that after the Israeli-American attacks in June of last year, Iran did not try to restore its ability to enrich uranium, which is necessary for the development of a nuclear weapon.
The scope of military attacks
The United States military has so far carried out strikes on 7,000 targets throughout Iran and hit more than 40 Iranian minesweepers and 11 submarines, according to the Pentagon.
