Allies of the governor claim that he is on his ticket for re-election to vice Felício Ramuth (), despite the vacancy.
It is still necessary to decide, however, whether Ramuth will remain in the PSD, as the party president — who is also Government Secretary — has expressed interest in the position. Interlocutors of the two claim that, having been passed over by the governor, Kassab may refuse to grant the party so that Ramuth can be vice-president again.
Tarcísio’s interlocutors say, with reservations, that Ramuth had a disagreement with Kassab and his future in the party is uncertain. The vice-governor’s entourage, however, denies the friction and states that he wishes to remain in the party.
According to allies, Tarcísio and Kassab should talk in the coming days to define whether the PSD will remain with the vice-president spot on the ticket, with the premise that Ramuth will continue in the position.
If he leaves the party, the vice-governor’s most likely fate will be , which makes up Tarcísio’s alliances and does not have its own pre-candidate for the Senate. If this is the case, the governor must participate in the articulation for Ramuth’s affiliation with a new party.
the relationship between Tarcísio and Kassab was also strained due, among other reasons, to the secretary’s partisan actions.
for alleged money laundering in Andorra, as revealed by the Metrópoles website in February. He denies any wrongdoing and claims to have provided all clarifications to the country’s authorities.
Members of the base speculated that the news leak could have come from Kassab, to undermine the supporter’s chances of remaining as vice president. THE Sheetthe president of the PSD denied having any involvement with the episode and lamented “the very low level of intrigue”.
Days after the news about Ramuth’s investigation, the case would affect the formation of the ticket. “There’s always gossip before an election,” he said. , the vice president had been preferred by the governor since the end of last year.
The vice position is especially important because the expectation is that Tarcísio will run for President in 2030 — therefore, number 2 would take over the government at least six months before the election, according to the disqualification period, and would be the natural candidate for the position.
Tarcísio’s allies explain the decision to keep the same vice-president on the ticket with the famous popular expression: “you don’t move on a team that’s winning.”
For them, the governor sees Ramuth as a loyal ally, who does not threaten the chief’s political power. According to an interlocutor, Kassab’s insistence on occupying the post, bypassing Ramuth, may have generated an effect contrary to that desired by the party leader.
The president of the PL, , had also been pushing for Tarcísio to accept his political godson, the president of the Legislative Assembly of , deputy, into the vacancy.
Party members say that Tarcísio makes a “safe” choice by opting for Ramuth and passing over André, who has great influence over the São Paulo Legislature.
In February, Alesp deputies defended their colleague’s nomination. The governor’s interlocutors stated that the document could be interpreted by him as a form of pressure and more of a hindrance than of helping André to be chosen.
At the end of that month, after meeting with Tarcísio, the senator, pre-candidate for President, stated that the governor would be responsible for choosing his own vice president. Interlocutors have said that this is a personal decision, which cannot be made by third parties.
Last week, Valdemar and the former federal deputy, self-exiled in the United States, met in Dallas, in the state of Texas. According to Eduardo’s allies, the two handled the election in São Paulo and the PL president asked for the support of the former president’s son to place André on Tarcísio’s ticket.
In recent weeks, as Tarcísio’s decision to keep Ramuth in succession became clear, however, members of the PL and party leaders began to speculate that the president of Alesp could run for the Senate.
In 2026, two of the three seats in each state will be up for grabs — that is, the two with the most votes will be elected to the House.
According to an old agreement between Tarcísio’s base parties, the governor would have the right to nominate a name to run for one of the vacancies — the chosen one would be his former Secretary of Security, the federal deputy. The other would be from Eduardo Bolsonaro.
As Eduardo cannot return to Brazil for fear of being convicted or even subject to an arrest order from the Federal Supreme Court, his allies argue that he has the right.
According to interlocutors, he now tends to work on behalf of the federal deputy, who is disliked by the former first lady. Jair Bolsonaro’s favorite for the mission, however, would be Colonel Mello Araújo (PL), the mayor’s deputy.
