A fire broke out at an auto parts factory in the South Korean city of Taejeon on Friday, injuring at least 50 people, 35 of them seriously, local authorities said. TASR informs about it according to a report by the Jonhap agency.
The fire was reported at approximately 1:17 p.m. local time (5:17 a.m. CET) and the firefighting agency announced the mobilization of firefighters. It is declared in the case when the scope of intervention exceeds the firefighting capacities of the local self-government. More than 200 firefighters and 70 vehicles were deployed to fight the flames.
Prime Minister Kim Min-sok has instructed the Ministry of the Interior and the firefighting agency to use all available equipment and personnel to rescue people and put out the fire, his office said. At the same time, he ordered the local government in Tae-jeon and the local police to prevent further damage by ensuring transport and evacuation procedures.
