Former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) presents a positive evolution in his clinical condition, but remains hospitalized in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the DF Star Hospital, in Brasília, with no expected discharge. The information is contained in a medical bulletin released this Friday (20).
According to the medical team, Bolsonaro is being treated for bilateral bacterial bronchopneumonia, caused by aspiration of gastric contents. The document informs that he maintains “good clinical and laboratory evolution”, with the use of intravenous antibiotics and intensive monitoring.
Despite the improvement in exams, doctors indicate that the former president still requires ongoing care. The bulletin points out that he continues with intensive clinical support, in addition to respiratory and motor physiotherapy sessions.
“He remains hospitalized in the Intensive Care Unit […] undergoing treatment for bilateral bacterial pneumonia resulting from an episode of bronchoaspiration. He maintains good clinical and laboratory evolution”, informed the medical team.
Bolsonaro was hospitalized last Friday (13), after experiencing a high fever, a drop in oxygen saturation, sweating and chills. Since then, he continues to be monitored in the ICU.
Although there are signs of recovery, the medical team is working with the possibility of maintaining hospitalization for at least a week. So far, there is no indication of when Bolsonaro will be able to leave the ICU.
