Military Police rescued an uninjured child 2.7 km from the crime scene; 26-year-old suspect was arrested
A rescued a 2-month-old baby who was inside a stolen car in the North Zone of São Paulo. The crime took place on Thursday afternoon (19 March 2026) in Jaraguá. A 26-year-old man was arrested as a suspect in the robbery.
The child’s mother parked the vehicle in front of the City Hall’s CCA Ebenezer (Center for Children and Adolescents) to pick up her other daughter, aged 7. The suspect took advantage of the moment, got into the car and fled at around 4:11 pm and almost ran over the child’s mother and an employee of the unit.
The employee informed the police that, with the support of a driver, he chased the suspect for approximately 1 km. Upon arriving at a dead-end street, the suspect was detained by him and people who were in the area, who waited for the police vehicle to arrive.

The police located the car on Rua Chica Luiza, approximately 2.7 kilometers from the crime scene. The baby was still inside the vehicle, uninjured. The child was taken to the Pirituba Emergency Room for medical evaluation. The case was registered in the 33rd Police District. The suspect will be charged with the crime of robbery.
