Video surveillance footage captured the moment a man stole a car with a two-month-old baby inside, in São Paulo, Brazil.
The cameras show a woman getting out of the car and a man getting in right after, taking advantage of everyone’s distraction.
According to the local press, the owner of the car was going to pick up her seven-year-old daughter, but when she returned there was no car or baby.
The woman and people who were at the scene still tried to follow the vehicle, but without success, so they alerted the police.
Authorities ended up locating the vehicle 2.7 kilometers away, with the child still inside.
According to the Military Police, the suspect abandoned the vehicle as soon as he realized the child was inside, ending up fleeing on foot.
People who were at the scene noticed everything and ended up grabbing the man, who was handed over to the police.
As for the baby, he was returned safe and sound to his mother.
