The BTG Pactual bank suffered a hacker attack this Sunday (22) that diverted resources from Pix, and forced the company to cancel instant payment operations due to security measures. The information was given by ‘O Globo’ and confirmed by Young Pan. According to investigations, the amount embezzled is around R$100 million, and the attack took place in the morning. The cyber attack was discovered after the company identified unusual activities.

In a note, the company reported that no data was leaked and there was no loss in the incident.

“BTG Pactual informs that it identified this Sunday morning (22/03) atypical activities related to PIX. The bank clarifies that there was no access to customer accounts and no account holder data was exposed.”, says the note. “While investigating the case, as a precautionary measure, PIX operations are suspended. BTG Pactual also reinforces that information security is a priority and is available in case of doubts through its service channels”, he adds.
