The governor of Pernambuco, (PSD), and the mayor of Recife, (PSB), attended the vigil at Arena Pernambuco. The event started on Saturday night (21 March 2026) and ended on Sunday morning (22 March) after 12 hours.
The celebration included the holy mass at midnight, presided over by Dom Paulo Jackson Nóbrega de Sousa, and the holy rosary at dawn – a practice that became a hallmark of Friar Gilson’s transmissions during Lent.
In her account on X, Raquel Lyra asked that “May God continue to light the path of everyone who works for a more just, more humane and hopeful Pernambuco.”
What a beautiful and blessed night, which only ends tomorrow, at @arenadepernambuco, people! Stage for big games and shows, it became a true temple of prayer and encounter with God, bringing together thousands of Catholics from Pernambuco.

João Campos, who launched his pre-candidacy for the State Government on Friday (20.mar.2026), also attended the vigil alongside his wife, the federal deputy (PSB-SP), and spoke about the religious meeting. “The vigil of Lent is exciting. A moment of faith and celebration, which brought together around 60 thousand faithful in preparations for Easter.”
