Victories look different: Slovenian ruling party rocked by scandals

Victories look different. Prime Minister Robert Golob’s center party “Freedom” (Svoboda) received the most votes in Sunday’s elections in Slovenia (28.6 percent), but it is only less than one percentage point ahead of the right-wing conservative SDS. In fact, Svoboda has suffered a massive loss compared to 2022. When Golob first joined his movement, 34.5 percent still trusted him. Now the party can only send 29 members to parliament instead of 39.
