Former US President Bill Clinton began testifying this Friday before a congressional committee about his widely documented ties to Jeffrey Epstein, although Democrats will try to divert attention to President Donald Trump’s relationship with the sex offender. Clinton, 79, figures prominently in the latest revelations from the Epstein files. The former president insists, however, that he broke off relations with the financier well before he was convicted of sexual crimes in 2008. “It took us seven months to get the Clintons here. But, now that we have them, we are going to ask a lot of questions,” declared this Friday the chairman of the House Oversight Committee, Republican James Comer. Democratic lawmaker Suhas Subramanyam, a member of the committee, countered with a call for Donald Trump to be questioned: “Let’s face it, we’re talking to the wrong president today.” “President Trump is the one who hinders our investigation. President Trump is the one who wants to end this,” he said.
