Supporting the brain at any age can reduce the incidence of neurological diseases, improve mental well-being and increase resistance to stress and strain. On the occasion of this week’s Brain Week, the Office of Public Health (ÚVZ) of the SR pointed this out. He emphasized that the brain needs to be protected throughout life, and its health is the result of daily decisions.

“Brain health is influenced by lifestyle, social environment and mental well-being, which have a major impact on how our brain will function in 20 or 30 years,” announced the office on the website, stating that a large part of the risk factors can be influenced.

Among the most important pillars for supporting brain health are: regular movement that supports blood flow to the brain or quality sleep, essential for the regeneration of nerve connections. Likewise healthy diet, social contacts and mental activity, pursuing hobbies, managing stress and a safe environment, as well as controlling blood pressure, sugar and cholesterol.
