Waves of missile attacks between Iran and Israel are raising tensions in the Middle East

Israel attacks Hezbollah infrastructure and calls for evacuation of southern Lebanon residents. The airstrikes also hit the movement’s stronghold in the suburbs of Beirut.

On Tuesday, the Israeli army called on residents of two seaside towns in southern Lebanon to evacuate, naming the infrastructure of the pro-Iranian movement Hezbollah as the planned targets of its attacks.

  • The Israeli army called on residents to evacuate in Lebanon.
  • The army carried out seven raids on Hezbollah positions.
  • Iran fires more missiles at Israel; they scored a hit.
  • Rescuers treated a man with a minor injury after the explosion.

As reported by the Le Monde website, on Monday evening and early Tuesday morning, the Israeli army launched seven raids on Hezbollah positions in the southern suburbs of Beirut. AFP released a video showing thick plumes of smoke rising over the southern suburbs, considered a Hezbollah stronghold, which had not been targeted since Friday, March 20.

In the meantime, Iran fired two more salvos of rockets at Israel. The Israeli army reported at least one strike in an area in the north of the country. An explosion was heard in Jerusalem after the alarm was sounded.

They call for an end to the fighting

The Red Shield of David (Magen David Adom – MDA), Israel’s equivalent of the Red Cross, released a video of a damaged building and debris scattered on the ground. Rescuers said they treated a man in his 30s who suffered minor injuries when he stepped on shrapnel. The Israeli military later announced another wave of Iranian shelling in the early hours of Tuesday.

In response to the escalation of tensions in the region, the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen once again called for an immediate end to the fighting in the Middle East.

“We are all feeling the impact (of the fights) on gas and oil prices, which are affecting our businesses and our companies,” von der Leyen said during a meeting with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese in Canberra. She emphasized that it is essential to find a solution that will end the ongoing fighting.
