The Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva government said this Tuesday (24) that it will need to implement a block of R$1.6 billion in spending by ministries to meet the expenditure limit for the year, pointing out that it will not be necessary to contingency resources to reach the fiscal target.
In a bimonthly fiscal assessment report, the Ministries of Finance and Planning pointed out that the forecast is that the government will close the year with a primary deficit of R$59.8 billion, but the balance would reach a surplus of R$3.5 billion after deducting exceptions to the calculation of the target.
The 2026 fiscal target is a surplus of 0.25% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), equivalent to R$34.3 billion, with a tolerance of 0.25 percentage points of GDP more or less.
