A international media reflected the decision of Federal Supreme Court (STF) minister Alexandre de Moraes to allow former president Jair Bolsonaro to be transferred to the house arrest this Tuesday (24).

According to the newspapers The Guardian, The Washington Post and the Associated Press agency, former president Jair Bolsonaro received permission to serve his sentence of more than 27 years in prison at home. According to The Guardian, despite Moraes’ initial determination of 90 days of house arrest, “historically, the Federal Supreme Court of Brazil only revoke house arrest if the detainee’s health improves drastically or if there is a violation of established norms”.

Reuters and Bloomberg emphasized that the Bolsonaro transfer from the General Staff room of the 19th Military Police Battalion, Papudinha, home happened due to “health problems” of the prisoner. “The change of position [de Moraes] It comes after Bolsonaro was admitted earlier this month to the intensive care unit of a Brasília hospital with an acute form of pneumonia,” wrote Reuters.
